Happy Bug-day!

Two years ago today, on 4/5, Ellie-Bug entered the world at 4:04 a.m. (Someone once asked me, "Couldn't you have waited another minute, so she could've been born at 4:05 on 4/5?" The answer to that is definitely no, and if you've heard her drive-through birth story, you know why!) It's hard to believe it's only taken that long for her to go from this...

...to this...

...and now to this:

Looking back, we probably should've just named her Ellie-Bug, or Bug-a-Bug, or Buggy, or Buggiana, or even Ells (and, for that matter, named Keira Binka-Stinks, Binks, Bunky-Boozers, or Kiwi-Peewee...where do we come UP with this stuff?!), but I suppose Elliana is a lovely "legit name" for her to use out in public someday. For now, though, everyone--including Keira's teacher and preschool classmates--knows her as Ellie-Bug, and we have visions of her starting kindergarten and thinking her last name is actually Bug!

As she gets older, Ells definitely wants to imitate everything her big sister does and says--sometimes it sounds like we have a tiny echo running around the house--but she's got her own personality, too...and plenty of it. While Kiwi has a flair for the (melo)dramatic, Ellie is almost always happy-go-lucky and has a hint of the class clown in her already. Wherever she goes, she makes people laugh with her silly antics, and it's been that way since birth:

(That last one is actually how she thinks pants are supposed to be worn. Sometimes we fix them...sometimes we don't.)

There isn't a day that goes by that Bear and I don't remark how unbelievably smart, lovable, and adorable our little Love-Bug is, and it's really impossible to decide what's most precious about her: the way her little curls bounce when she runs, her sweet little voice, her hugs and spontaneous "I yuv you!"'s, or even the supercute sulking face she busts out on rare (but increasingly frequent) occasions. We couldn't adore her more, and even though this birthday is supposed to mark the beginning of the Terrible Two's, we can't wait to see what this silly girl comes up with in the next year!

Happy birthday, Elliana!
