Since then, she has warmed up to it in that she'll walk over and pat him on the nose, or even give him the occasional kiss...but ride the thing? No way. Occasionally, I have tried to put her on it, and been met with the type of freaking out that is usually only reserved for poltergeist sightings.
Fast forward to last weekend, when my family was over for a BBQ and someone walked into the living room to declare, "She's on the horse." Pap-Pap and I looked at each other: NO WAY! and scurried into the playroom to behold...this:
(The picture of her smiling happily on the horsie came out blurry, but the fact that she's not screaming bloody murder in this one speaks volumes.)
Apparently, my dad had done his usual, "Hey, do you want to ride your horsie?" bit and was waiting for the emphatic "NO!!" that was sure to follow, when Cubby foiled his plans and instead answered, "Grammy help you up?" Take that, Grampy!
Kids are so funny! Mine never cease to amaze me. I can ask them the same thing everyday and get the same answer. Then all of the sudden, out of the blue, the answer changes!
